What You Need To Know About The SnoreTek Chin Strap
This is a product that we have recently found online… so we decided to take a look at it. This looks like a new take on a fairly well-known product. Stop snoring chin straps have been around for a long time… and we have always liked them.
Granted, they may not be quite as effective as some other types of anti-snoring products. But they’re also less invasive, and may fill a gap that is desperately needed in the snoring-remedy market.
Surprisingly, they tend to have a unique positive side effect. People who wear them say that they are actually quite comforting, because of how they gently ‘squeeze’ your face! And in trying some of these products ourselves, we can actually confirm that this is, in fact, true!
At any rate, we decided to take a look at the SnoreTek to see what was up. Here is what we discovered.
SnoreTek Product Classification & Instructions For Use
This product is technically classified as a ‘stop snoring chin strap…’ and it doubtlessly deserves that designation. It is, by all accounts, a classic example of a stop snoring chin strap, in pretty much every way.
As for the instructions for use… they are quite simple.
Here are the basic steps…
And that is pretty much it!
This one is pretty tough to get wrong… but its simplicity is definitely an upside.
How Does The SnoreTek Chinstrap Work?
So the science behind the anti-snoring chinstrap device is pretty simple. When you fall asleep, the muscles and tissues in your throat relax, which can cause them to ‘sag’ down into the airway. This creates constriction, which can cause the air moving through the airway to ‘vibrate’ the loose tissue. This is known as ‘soft palate vibration,’ and is the number-one cause of snoring.
Well, the stop snoring chin strap seeks to stop this problem by holding the jaw closed and slightly forward during sleep. If the jaw is not allowed to fall downward and backward during sleep, then you would, in theory, find it easier to keep your airway more open as you rest.
This would, in turn, help to cut back on soft palate vibration, and would allow the airway to remain clearer.
And that is how the SnoreTek chinstrap is designed to work.
SnoreTek: Clinical Background And FDA Approval
As far as we can tell, this product is neither FDA tested, nor proved to work in clinical testing (though chin straps have been clinically tested before). In fact, we don’t think that any stop snoring chinstraps have ever been FDA approved. However, this does not seem like it is as big of a deal with this product as it is for devices that you have to keep in your mouth during sleep – because it is much less invasive.
This is almost like an article of clothing that you wear during sleep… so that sort of makes the fact that it is not FDA approved more understandable. We do wish that there was some clinical evidence for it… but as it stands, you can still try it pretty much risk-free. But we will talk about that in a moment.
Can There Be Any Side Effects?
The only real side effect you could really expect to possibly see with this product is discomfort during use. Ironically, however, a lot of people describe these types of devices as ‘comforting and relaxing,’ though. Wearing a chin strap is said to feel a lot like getting a tiny face-hug!
Also, if you are a mouth breather, this device may irritate you… because it would keep you from breathing through your mouth.
How Much Does The SnoreTek Cost?
You can buy the SnoreTek on the official product website for $38.90… and this is about the same price that you will pay on the international site as well. (Actually… the international site lists it as $10 cheaper, which is awesome!)
This makes the SnoreTek way cheaper than other stop snoring chinstraps that we have seen on the market… which is surprising. You would think that a product like this would be relatively inexpensive, because it is a pretty simple concept, really. But we have literally seen versions of this product that were priced at close to $100!
These chin straps do work well for a lot of people – but that kind of price just seems excessive. So when it comes to pricing, we liked what SnoreTek was doing with their chin strap.
What Do We Know About The Company Behind The SnoreTek Chin Strap?
Here is the physical address that we located (for returns) on the official product website.
P.O. Box 551122
Ft. Lauderdale, FL 33355
We were also able to find an email address, which is listed as such…
As for company history, we were unable to learn anything of importance on the official site. Not much information is provided about the company.
What Can Users Expect From The SnoreTek Chinstrap?
Users can expect for this product to be easy to use, though it might take a few nights to get used to it. It can also be a bit problematic for mouth-breathers, because it was designed to keep your mouth closed while you sleep.
Does The SnoreTek Require A Doctor’s Involvement Or A Prescription?
No. You can buy and use the SnoreTek even without a doctor’s involvement or a prescription. You can simply order it online and use it.
We actually liked this product… though we will also admit that this is not necessarily a new concept. But it is priced well, comes with a 90 day money back guarantee, and seems to offer a lot of value for the cost.
If you are a snorer who suffers from soft-palate vibration, and want a snoring remedy that does not require you to hold something in your mouth all night, then this device might actually do you a lot of good. It is much less invasive than its MAD or TSD counterparts, so that is a good thing.
It can be a bit tricky for mouth-breathers. But then again, mouth breathing in-general is just not quite as healthy as nasal breathing. So maybe, for some people, this product would even promote nasal breathing more… and in so-doing, also promote better health in-general as a side effect?
At any rate, we did like this product quite a bit… and feel that anyone interested in a less-invasive stop snoring method might want to give it a try before moving on to something a bit more ‘challenging.’ You do, after all, get a 90 day satisfaction guarantee with it… so if you don’t like it, you can just return it.
The Costs To Get The SnoreTek Shipped To Canada
But… you can go to mouthguardstore.com, and get it ordered from there for a shipping cost of $19.68. This is pretty expensive, and we were not super thrilled with it – but at least there is an option.
This is actually linked-to on the official site in their FAQ, down at the bottom, where the question about ‘International Shipping’ is asked.
Where Can I Buy SnoreTek If I Live In Canada?
The best place to buy the SnoreTek if you do not live in the United States is from this store online: mouthguardstore.com.
