Natural Home Remedies For Snoring

Natural Home Remedies For Snoring

Snoring is a very, very common problem. It is so common, in fact, that nearly every household deals with it at some point or another. And most people have to deal with it on a regular basis.

But is it possible to cure snoring through natural means?

And even more to the point… is it possible to cure snoring using only home remedies?

Believe it or not, it is definitely easier to cure snoring through natural home remedies than you might think… and in this post, we are going to give you a list of things to try. These may not all work the same for you – but odds are good that at least one or two of them will help.

Use Peppermint Oil

Peppermint Oil

Yes, peppermint. Peppermint is an anti-inflammatory, and helps to reduce swelling. This can be used to great effect if you utilize it to reduce the swelling of the lining of the throat. This will help to make breathing easier, and can even be used during the allergy season to alleviate allergic reactions to pollen and such.

To use peppermint as a snoring solution, you can use Peppermint essential oil. Simply mix one or two drops of this into a glass of water, and gargle with it. Just make sure not to swallow it! You can also add a few drops to your humidifier before you turn it on, or even add a few drops to the skin underneath your nose before going to sleep.

Steam-Treat Your Nasal Passages

Steam-Treat Nasal Passages

Using steam can greatly reduce nasal congestion, which can seriously decrease your odds of suffering from snoring over the course of the night! To steam-treat your nasal passages, pour some hot, boiling water into a large bowl. For best results, you can add a bit of tea tree or eucalyptus essential oil to it as well… about three or four drops of either.

Then, lean your head over the bowl, and cover both your head and the bowl with a towel. Breathe deeply through your nose in this position for about 10 minutes. Do this right before you go to sleep, and it should help to open up your nasal passages.

Olive Oil is another strong anti-inflammatory. It can not only help to reduce inflammation in the nasal passages, but also to coat the lining of the soft palate to keep soft-palate vibrations from occurring. To use olive oil to help stop snoring, mix a half-teaspoon of olive oil with a half-teaspoon of honey, and swallow it before going to bed.

Make A Turmeric Tincture

This one might not taste as good, but it will certainly work! Turmeric is a spice with a lot of flavor, but it also doubles as a powerful antibiotic and antiseptic agent. It can also treat inflammation, and do a lot to help you with heavy snoring problems.

To make this mixture, simply mix two tablespoons of turmeric powder with a glass of warm milk. Drink this about half an hour before going to bed, and repeat nightly. It might not taste the best… but it will certainly help to reduce inflammation and fight heavy snoring!

Chew On Some Garlic

Chew On Some Garlic

Yes, now we’re getting downright nasty… but we’ve saved the best for last!

If you think that your snoring may be caused by mucus buildup in the nasal passages and/or inflammation in the airways, then garlic can do a lot to help you clear up the problem.

Chew on one or two raw garlic cloves, then drink a glass of water to help make the most of this remedy. This is best done once a day, before bedtime.

Yes, it’s pretty nasty, to be honest… but it can help a lot. You can also use more raw garlic in your food, and make sure to eat it while it’s hot. The fumes, containing the garlic oils, can also do you a lot of good.
