What You Need to Know About the SnoreQuiet

The SnoreQuiet is basically a tongue stabilization device that is supposed to help you stop snoring. Tongue stabilization devices are devices that hold the tongue forward during sleep, which makes them a little bit different from MADs, which are designed to advance the entire lower jawline instead.

SnoreQuiet also makes an MAD… but in this review, we will be focusing solely on their Tongue Retaining device.

We have reviewed several different types of tongue stabilization device on this site, from the Good Morning Snore Solution to the AveoTSD. But how does the SnoreQuiet stand up against these other devices?

Let’s talk about it.

SnoreQuiet Tongue Retaining Device Product Classification and Instructions For Use

As stated before, this is most definitely a TSD, or ‘Tongue Stabilization Device.’

Using this product is pretty simple. In fact, detailed instructions for how to use it can be located on the product website, which is pretty handy. Here are the steps.

  1. Rinse the device with hot water before each use
  2. Turn it so that the V notch faces downward, and squeeze the bulb between your thumb and forefinger
  3. Insert your tongue into the device and release the bulb so that it suctions onto your tongue.
  4. To remove the device, press the bulb again to release the suction. Then, pull your tongue out of it.
  5. Rinse the device in hot water after each use, and store it in the provided container until you use it again. You are not supposed to wash it using mouthwash or any other chemical that contains any alcohol.

And that is that. In trying the device, we have come to find that if it doesn’t feel comfortable, it is usually because the amount of suction is not correct. You can kind of adjust the level of suction to suit your needs by pressing the bulb and rearranging how your tongue is positioned. It does take some practice. But, with a little bit of effort, it can actually be made quite comfortable.

How Does the SnoreQuiet Work?

The SnoreQuiet Tongue Retaining Device is designed to help stop snoring by holding the tongue in a forward position during sleep. The idea is that this helps to prevent snoring by opening up the airway, preventing loose tissue from partially obstructing it. This obstruction of the airway, caused by loose tissue and muscle, is the number-one cause of snoring, as it can lead to soft palate vibration.

How SnoreQuiet TSD works

Soft palate vibration occurs when there is too little room in the airway for the air to move through freely while breathing. This causes vibration in the soft tissue as the air passes, which is the reason that the sounds associated with snoring are created to begin with.

Clinical Background and FDA Approval

On the official product website, there is a badge at the bottom of their page that says “5 Star Rating,” and the badge is apparently from Google. The website also says that the product has 5-star reviews on Google, that it is doctor recommended, and that it is quality control approved.

The company also has an A+ rating with the BBB, which his actually pretty awesome.

SnoreQuiet customer reviews

Beyond this, however, we have seen no reference to any sort of clinical trial information, FDA approval, or anything like that. Of course, FDA approval is not required for a device to work, and in some cases, customer reviews serve to be almost as effective as clinical trials for determining whether something is likely to be effective or not… though we always do like to see some scientific studies to back up big claims.

But, with all of this being said, we can also say that the lack of these resources didn’t put us off from the device. It is pretty simple and, to be quite honest, a pretty inexpensive device… so trying it out to see if it might work is not that big of a risk.

Can There Be Any Side Effects?

As far as we can tell, the only side effect that you could possibly expect from this device would be a bit of tongue soreness until you get used to using it. There really isn’t a lot of side-effect risk for products like this, which is part of what makes them so effective.

How Much Does the SnoreQuiet Cost?

Pricing is one of the things we loved the most about this product. You can buy the SnoreQuiet Tongue Retaining Anti Snoring Device for just $59.95 on the official product website, which is actually a really affordable price for a product in this category.

What Do We Know About the Company Behind the SnoreQuiet?

The terms and conditions page of the website says that the website is owned and operated by Sunlight Unlimited LLC. Beyond this, their site does not indicate who the manufacturer is—so we assume that someone manufactures the product for Sunlight Unlimited LLC. That, or they manufacture the product themselves.

With that being said, we do know that the company says that their products are designed and engineered in the USA.

The best way to get in touch with the company seems to be through email via an email contact form that they host on their ‘contact us’ page.

The company offers a 30 day return policy if you try the SnoreQuiet Tongue Retaining Device—which is really awesome. This isn’t as long of a return policy as we have seen on some products, but it is definitely better than nothing—and 30 days seems to be a sufficient amount of time to give it a good try.
We have done quite a bit of research pertaining to this product, and have even tried it ourselves. Not only have we not heard any real scam complaints over the course of our research, but we can also say for sure that this product is not a scam because we have literally used it.

What Can Users Expect From the SnoreQuiet Tongue Stabilization Device?

As far as we could tell, the main thing that customers can expect is for their tongue to be a little bit sore at first. In fact, we recommend that you wear it during the day for a few minutes to an hour each day for the first few days before wearing it to bed, as this may help to alleviate that initial discomfort until you get used to it and figure out the perfect amount of suction to use.

SnoreQuiet Tongue Stabilization Device

The product was designed for people who suffer from snoring problems. Usually, products like this are not recommended for children. But beyond that, there do not seem to be any restrictions on who could use it.

If you are a snorer and you are an adult, you could probably give this product a try without fear of any adverse side effects.

Who May Not Benefit From the SnoreQuiet?

For someone suffering from obstructive sleep apnea, a mouthpiece like this alone may not be enough to treat the problem. If you fear that you may be suffering from sleep apnea, it is always best to speak with your doctor about it—as it can be a pretty serious problem in the long run that mouthpieces like this do not always have the capability to fix or help.

Does the SnoreQuiet Tongue Retaining Device Require a Doctor’s Involvement or a Prescription?

No. You do not need to have a doctor involved to buy and/or use the SnoreQuiet, and it does not require a prescription.

Maintenance Requirements and Replacement

The product material is very soft and pliable… and as such, making it comfortable is pretty easy. The website does not seem to say exactly what materials are used to make it, but we did enjoy the soft, pliable feel of it. Taking care of it is pretty easy. You can scrub it with a toothbrush if you feel the need, and you can also soak it in the container that it comes in.

You are not supposed to expose it to any harsh chemicals or chemicals that contain alcohol, as this could damage the product.

For the most part, the only thing you really need to do with it to keep it clean is to give it a quick wash before and after use. That keeps it plenty clean and fresh for the next night’s use.

We are not completely sure how long this device is supposed to last, as we were unable to find this information on the product website. But it would seem that most products like this are designed to last for anywhere from 8 to 12 months, depending on how much wear and tear they are exposed to.

Our Verdict

In the end, we were pretty pleased with the SnoreQuiet tongue retention device. It is pretty similar to the AveoTSD, but it seems to be made of softer material. It also comes with a 30 day money back guarantee, which is awesome. It is a universal fit, easy to use, comfortable, relatively non-invasive, and works for most users—so there really isn’t much not to like about it.
